The practical receiving routes
| Situation | Supported route | Result for an item delivery |
|---|---|---|
| PC buyer and PC recipient | Same-platform multiplayer | Receive with the agreed online character. |
| PC buyer and PlayStation or Xbox recipient | Different platform families; no direct cross-play[1] | Recipient needs access to the agreed receiving platform. |
| One player owns PC and a console | Linked online progress carries character loot[2] | Receive while on PC, then resume that character on console. |
| PS4 + PS5, or Xbox One + Series X|S | Same-family cross-generational play supported[2] | Different generations are not the PC-versus-console barrier. |
If you only play on PlayStation, a PC-only receiving arrangement does not deliver directly to your console session. If you own both versions, you can be the same receiving player on PC and later continue on PlayStation. This is a sequence of two sessions, not PC-to-console multiplayer.

- Link each supported platform you use to your own Battle.net account. Blizzard describes cross-progression for platforms where you own D2R.[2]
- Open the online character on the platform agreed for receipt and complete the item exchange there.
- Leave that session and resume the same online character on your linked second platform. Cross-progression carries character loot and progress.[2]
An offline character is a separate play mode. Do not treat an item received by an online character as an offline save import. Likewise, a different person’s Battle.net account is not your cross-progression account.
PS4 and PS5 can play together; PC and PlayStation are different
Blizzard explicitly supports cross-generational play within PlayStation and within Xbox.[2] That means PS4-versus-PS5 is a different case from PC-versus-PS5. Keep platform family and generation separate when writing the receiving route. The image is Blizzard’s published console Party Finder example.
The 2026 Warlock update adds an era to match
Blizzard describes separate partitions for Diablo II Classic, Diablo II: Resurrected and Diablo II: Reign of the Warlock, with characters safely separated between them.[3] A matching platform therefore is not enough: a Warlock-era item arrangement is not automatically an arrangement for the older Resurrected partition.
Also keep the receiving character’s Ladder status and normal-versus-Hardcore mode in the order description. For example, “PlayStation, online normal non-Ladder, Resurrected era” describes a recipient far more clearly than “console items.” Those identity fields need to stay the same throughout the delivery.
Choose the route you can actually receive on
Use a same-platform option when you own only one version. If you own PC and a console linked to your account, receiving on PC and continuing on console is the concrete cross-progression route. Match the era and character mode as well as the item itself; a platform label alone does not establish that the order reaches the intended character.
