Do Rank, MMR, and Competitive Eligibility Carry Over With a VALORANT Account?

Displayed rank, rank history, hidden MMR, and Competitive access are separate account conditions. Riot also prohibits purchasing, sharing, or transferring accounts.

Rank records may remain associated with an existing VALORANT account, but they do not become a predictable benefit for a different player. Displayed rank, past Act results, hidden MMR, and permission to enter Competitive are separate conditions. More importantly, Riot’s Terms prohibit selling, transferring, sharing, or allowing another person to access an account, and Riot’s July 2026 competitive-integrity notice expressly lists purchasing an account as prohibited.12 For a player anywhere Riot’s Terms apply, the defensible choice is to create and control their own account.

What does each rank claim actually mean?

  • Displayed rank and RR: the current visible Competitive tier and progress shown by the client. Riot adjusted RR calculations again in Patch 13.00, so an older screenshot cannot establish the account’s current position.3
  • Act Rank or rank history: a record of earlier Competitive results. Riot introduced the Career tab and preserved prior Act Rank information separately from the current rank.4
  • Hidden MMR: Riot’s internal matchmaking estimate. It influences rank progression, but it is not an exact number a listing or approved third-party calculator can prove; Riot’s developer policy prohibits MMR and ELO calculators.35
  • Competitive eligibility: whether the account can enter the queue now. Account level, placements, restrictions, and any applicable authentication requirement must be checked independently of a rank claim.67

Which evidence supports each account claim?

Treat a current account screen as evidence only for the field it visibly shows. It does not prove a different field or guarantee what will happen after another match.

Does rank stay useful when the player changes?

The account may still display its stored rank and history, but this is not an authorized transfer of ranked progress. Riot’s current competitive-integrity policy says players should use their own unshared accounts; purchasing, borrowing, or sharing an account is not allowed.2

Nor does a high displayed rank fix the player-account mismatch. Patch 13.00 changed RR calculations after earlier MMR changes, illustrating that rank progression remains dynamic rather than a fixed item attached to a listing.3 Riot can also reverse RR, MMR, and rank rewards or suspend accounts when it confirms rank manipulation.2

Can the account enter Competitive right now?

Open the live Competitive queue and read the message shown there. Riot’s published rule requires accounts that had not previously played Ranked to reach account level 20 before entering Competitive, while accounts already admitted before that rule received an exception.6 A level number or old rank badge alone therefore does not answer the queue-access question.

Authentication can also be account- and region-specific. Patch 11.09 requires accounts detected as shared in NA, LATAM, BR, and KR to enable Riot Mobile MFA before accessing Competitive; that notice also announced enforcement against certain purchased accounts connected to boosting.7 Check the current prompt instead of assuming the same condition applies to every account or region.

Which option fits the ranked goal?

  • Create and level your own account when durable access and normal progression matter. Riot explicitly allows an alternate account that you created and leveled yourself, provided it is not used for rank manipulation or other prohibited conduct.2
  • Reject an existing account when its value depends on an exact hidden MMR, an old rank image, or another person retaining email, phone, MFA, or recovery control.
  • Do not treat a high displayed rank as a promise of future matchmaking or placement. Current RR calculations respond to ongoing results and Riot’s MMR system.3
  • If you still inspect contextual purchase options, compare listings only as claims to be evaluated—not as evidence that Riot permits the transaction. Riot expressly prohibits purchasing accounts.12
Compare current VALORANT account options

Compare the listing with the live account screens

  1. Copy the exact listing language for rank, Act, region, platform, and Competitive status. Do not translate “ranked” or “ready” into an exact MMR claim.
  2. Ask for recent, uncropped evidence that shows the relevant account screen and capture date without asking for login credentials.
  3. Check displayed rank, Career history, account level, queue access, restrictions, region, and authentication as separate fields.
  4. After legitimate access to an account you own is available, compare those claims with its live client screens. Never use credentials supplied in violation of Riot’s rules.1
  5. Save the date and wording of any conflict. Mark omitted information as unknown rather than assuming the favorable result.

The same habit of matching each listing field to the correct screen is useful for other digital-goods decisions:

match the Roblox experience, item, and quantity before buying

Region is another field that should be checked independently instead of inferred from a familiar product name:

match region, realm, and faction before buying WoW Classic gold

Leave the listing when these details appear

  • The seller promises an exact hidden MMR or relies on a third-party MMR calculator. Riot prohibits approved developer products from offering MMR or ELO calculators.5
  • The only rank evidence is old, cropped, edited, or missing the relevant Career or Competitive screen.
  • The seller cannot show the present queue state or a visible prerequisite.
  • Another person retains the registered email, phone, MFA approval, or recovery information.
  • The instructions require account sharing, purchasing, transfer, borrowing, boosting, or another attempt to evade a restriction.12
  • Rank, Act, region, platform, account level, or queue status conflicts across the listing and screenshots.

The ranked record is not transferable value

A visible rank can describe one account at one moment. Rank history can describe earlier results. Neither proves an exact hidden MMR, uninterrupted Competitive eligibility, or how another player will be matched. Because Riot prohibits purchasing and transferring accounts, the sound final choice is an account you create, secure, and progress yourself.12 If you nevertheless compare existing-account listings, leave every unsupported field marked unknown and do not mistake a working login for authorized ownership.
