How to Match Region, Realm, and Faction Before Buying WoW Classic Gold

Do not pay until the listing matches five details shown on your own screens: region, exact WoW Classic version, realm, faction, and recipient character. A familiar realm name alone is insufficient. As of 31 August 2026, Blizzard presents Classic Era, Burning Crusade Classic Anniversary, and Season of Discovery as distinct Classic experiences.¹²

Which details must match?

Open the Battle.net launcher and the character-selection or realm-selection screen. Copy the displayed values rather than entering them from memory.

There is also a policy drawback before any delivery question: Blizzard’s current license prohibits gathering in-game currency for sale outside its platform or games and permits account sanctions for violations.⁵ Blizzard separately warns that buying gold supports hacking and botting activity.⁶ Matching the destination prevents an accidental mismatch, but it does not remove this account-policy risk.

Confirm the region and exact Classic version

1. In Battle.net, select the installation containing the intended character. Do not rely on the last client you opened.
2. Launch the game and open the character list. Record the region associated with that environment.
3. Open Change Realm or the realm list and note the active version or realm-family tab.
4. Return to the listing and require an exact region-and-version match before comparing its other terms.

Burning Crusade Classic Anniversary is currently live as its own named Anniversary experience.² Selecting Classic Era or a Seasonal realm with a similar name would therefore describe a different destination.

Confirm the realm, faction, and recipient

Copy the realm spelling and character name from the same character-selection screen. Record the character’s faction separately. If a checkout combines realm and faction into one option, both parts must match.

• Ask which in-game delivery method is proposed and which character must receive it.
• Confirm that the recipient exists, can log in, and is on the recorded version, region, realm, and faction.
• Check the listing’s correction, cancellation, and refund terms before payment; do not assume a seller will fix a mistaken destination.
• Reject instructions requesting your Battle.net password, authenticator approval, one-time code, or remote account access. Delivery to a character should not require control of your account.

Restrictions can change by version or realm. Season of Discovery has previously used realm-level faction balancing and temporary character-creation limits on PvP realms, so the live realm screen remains the place to check whether the intended recipient can be created or used.⁴

Run the final order-to-character match

What should you choose if a field is uncertain?

Pause rather than choosing the closest-looking option. Blizzard’s transfer rules do not provide a general route for repairing cross-region or cross-version mistakes.³ A wrong order may also create delays or a dispute governed only by the seller’s written terms.

• Proceed to comparison only when every destination field is explicit and the account-policy risk is acceptable to you.
• Verify first when the listing says only “Classic,” omits the region, merges several versions, or does not explain faction-dependent delivery.
• Choose ordinary in-game earning when you want to avoid both destination uncertainty and third-party transaction risk.
• Check the in-game WoW Token screen only where the exact client supports it. Blizzard currently lists Tokens for World of Warcraft and WoW Classic Progression, while expressly excluding Classic Era, Hardcore, and Season of Discovery.⁷ Do not assume that wording covers another Anniversary or Seasonal client.
• Leave the listing when delivery requires credentials, authentication approval, unsupported access, or a recipient that does not exist on the confirmed destination.

Which players should compare a listing?

A player who has copied all five values can compare the listing’s delivery and correction terms without guessing. A player who cannot distinguish Era, Seasonal, and Burning Crusade Anniversary should return to the launcher and realm list first. Anyone unwilling to accept Blizzard’s stated restrictions on outside currency sales should earn gold in game or use a sanctioned in-game option only when it is visibly available for that exact version.⁵⁷

Before taking the next commercial step, read the order back as one destination: region, version, realm, faction, character. If any word differs from the character-selection screen—or the proposed method conflicts with Blizzard’s rules—do not place the order.
