Path of Exile Currency: PC vs PlayStation vs Xbox

Do not compare prices or delivery claims until the offer matches the recipient character’s game, league, platform environment, currency name and unit. A PC listing should not be treated as compatible with PlayStation or Xbox merely because the currency has the same name. Grinding Gear Games permits virtual-item trades through its official mechanisms only for personal, non-commercial purposes.¹ Its published real-money-trading policy says buying or selling items for real money or external currency is not allowed and may lead to a ban.² That rule is the decisive drawback: the safer choice is to earn currency or trade for it with other players inside the game.

What must match before an offer is relevant?

Open the character you intend to receive the currency. Record the game version, league or Standard environment, platform, exact character or account identifier used for trading, currency type and quantity unit. Then compare those fields with the listing. If the seller describes only “console,” omits the league, or substitutes another recipient, the offer is not sufficiently documented.

If you still need to inspect how a marketplace categorizes options, treat G2G as a place to compare listing fields—not as evidence that a transaction is permitted, compatible, available or deliverable. Stop before payment when the platform, game, league, recipient or unit is missing.

What cannot be assumed across platforms?

The October 2025 console announcement refers separately to the Xbox and PlayStation realms and says their previous Trade Market would be disabled before the new system launched.³ It does not establish that either console inventory can be delivered to PC or to the other console. Therefore, do not infer cross-platform transferability from a shared currency name, similar listing image or identical quantity.

• Do not substitute Path of Exile 2 currency for Path of Exile 1 currency, or the reverse.
• Do not substitute Standard for a challenge league, Hardcore for non-Hardcore, or another explicitly displayed game environment.
• Do not convert a stack, unit or bundle into an assumed total; require the listing to state both quantity and unit.
• Do not treat a seller’s delivery estimate as proof that a compatible recipient exists.
• Do not provide a password, session token, email code or console-account credential. The official terms require login information to remain confidential.¹

If your character is on PC

Match the listing against the league shown for the active PC character, not against a remembered league name or a different character. Grinding Gear Games’ PC instructions describe searching through its Trade site and completing trades using listings exposed by trade forums or public Premium Stash Tabs.⁴ The official terms permit personal, non-commercial trades through in-game mechanisms and official APIs but do not promise that any trade will complete.¹

1. Open the destination character and note the game version and league.
2. Confirm that the offer explicitly says PC and uses the same league label.
3. Match the exact currency name, quantity and unit across the title, options and cart.
4. Require delivery instructions that identify an in-game trade path without requesting account access.
5. Leave when any destination field changes between the listing and checkout.

If your character is on PlayStation

Do not rely on guides for the retired console Trade Market. Grinding Gear Games said that system would be permanently disabled on both PlayStation and Xbox before the new Keepers of the Flame trade system launched.³ Use the current in-client interface or official Trade page to verify the live route and league label.

A PlayStation offer should name PlayStation specifically. “Console,” a controller icon or a seller’s verbal assurance is weaker than an explicit platform field. If the seller cannot show the intended game, league, currency unit and recipient workflow in writing, use the current official trading mechanism or obtain the currency through gameplay.

If your character is on Xbox

Apply the same destination discipline on Xbox, but do not assume a PlayStation listing is interchangeable. The official transition notice names Xbox and PlayStation realms separately and does not announce shared inventories between them.³ Check the platform and league selected in the live trade interface before relying on any external description.

Reject instructions that replace the agreed recipient, require account access or leave the quantity unit unstated. Grinding Gear Games requires passwords and login information to remain confidential.¹ A legitimate in-game alternative avoids giving another party control of the account.

Run a listing-to-character check

1. Product: confirm that the listing concerns currency, not points, an account or a service.
2. Game: match Path of Exile 1 or Path of Exile 2 exactly.
3. Environment: match the challenge league, Standard and any other displayed mode exactly.
4. Platform: require PC, PlayStation or Xbox to be written explicitly.
5. Recipient: use only the identifier required by the current in-game trade flow; never share login credentials.
6. Quantity: reconcile the number, stack, bundle and unit across every order screen.
7. Delivery: require a written description of what completes delivery and what happens if the recipient is incompatible.
8. Policy: remember that Grinding Gear Games prohibits real-money or external-currency item transactions.²

Choose the in-game route when any condition fails

As of 31 August 2026, the official terms allow personal, non-commercial virtual-item trades through Grinding Gear Games’ mechanisms,¹ and the published RMT policy still says real-money or external-currency item sales are prohibited.² Matching PC, PlayStation or Xbox fields can prevent a destination error, but it cannot remove that policy conflict.

• Use official player-to-player trading when you have in-game currency to exchange and the character is eligible to trade.
• Farm the currency yourself when the platform, league or recipient is uncertain.
• Use Solo Self-Found only if you want an environment where characters cannot trade or party; Grinding Gear Games describes it as an optional mode with separate ladders.⁵
• Ask for clarification only when a noncritical logistical detail is missing; reject the offer when a destination or policy condition fails.

Make the final decision on your own character screen

Proceed no further unless the game, league, platform, recipient, currency and unit agree everywhere. Even with a perfect match, the official real-money-trading rule makes an in-game exchange or self-farming the supported next action.² Close the listing if it contradicts your live character screen, requests credentials or depends on an assumed cross-platform transfer.
