PoE Currency Platforms: PoE 1 vs PoE 2 Trading

PoE 1 does not share characters across PC and console. PoE 2 supports cross-play, so choose the game and league before treating a platform label as a trading restriction.

For Path of Exile currency, first distinguish PoE 1 from PoE 2. PoE 1 does not share characters across PC and console; linking accounts does not move those characters to another platform.[1] PoE 2 supports full cross-play and cross-progression, so a PC-versus-console label does not create the same barrier.[2] Choose the correct game and the receiving character’s league before comparing a currency offer.

This is why “PC currency” is an incomplete description. A PoE 1 PC offer does not become a PoE 2 offer, and linking your login cannot make it one. In PoE 2, players on supported platforms can play together, but an offer still has to belong to the character’s game and league.

PoE 1 account linking does not transfer console characters

GGG’s account-system FAQ explicitly answers no to playing a PoE 1 console character on PC.[1] If your receiving PoE 1 character is on PlayStation, select a PlayStation-realm option. Logging in with the same account on PC is not a way to claim PC-realm currency for that console character.

PoE 2 cross-play removes the platform split, not league identity

GGG’s console announcement describes playing with friends on other supported platforms and moving from console to PC without losing progress.[2] For a PoE 2 trade, compare the same named league and its normal or Hardcore variant. A temporary-league character and a permanent-league character are not the same recipient simply because both use a PC.

For example, a quote for PoE 2 currency in a normal temporary trade league should be compared with another quote for that same league and currency. A PoE 1 offer or a Hardcore offer does not complete that order.

A missing character may be in another sub-account

Merged accounts retain separate sub-accounts and their characters. GGG says to use the account selector above character selection to switch between them.[1] If the expected character is missing, changing that selector can resolve the problem; assuming the character has been moved or deleted can send the delivery to the wrong recipient.

PlayStation shop purchases are different from gameplay currency

GGG separately restricts sharing purchased microtransactions between PlayStation and other platforms.[1] That is a shop-entitlement rule. It does not override the stated PoE 2 cross-play feature or turn every in-game currency into a platform-exclusive purchase. Keep shop points and cosmetics separate from the currency items used in a league.

Use your own receiving character

GGG requires login details to remain confidential, and its staff warn that real-money trading can result in account bans.[4] [5] An external currency option should not require giving another person your account password. Platform compatibility does not remove the game’s trading rules.

For PoE 1, match the receiving platform realm and league. For PoE 2, match the game, league and character, then use its cross-play support. For SSF, player-trade delivery does not fit the mode. The screenshot shows GGG’s own FAQ distinguishing the two games.
