Grok Free vs SuperGrok: What Does the Paid Plan Add?

Grok Free covers occasional search, voice, chat, and connector use. SuperGrok adds named models and creation tools, while SuperGrok Plus mainly raises usage and video benefits.

Choose Grok Free if you mainly want occasional chat, real-time web and X search, voice, or connectors. SuperGrok adds Grok 4.6, Expert, Grok Bot, image and video generation, and higher rate limits; SuperGrok Plus includes those benefits and adds significantly higher usage, 1080p video creation, priority access, and early feature access.1 Paying makes sense only when one of those differences solves a recurring restriction.

The paid tiers remove some entitlement differences, but they do not promise unlimited use. Paid Grok products draw from a shared weekly allowance, and compute-heavy work can consume more of it than ordinary chat.2 The public pages do not publish fixed prompt or output counts for these three plans.12

If you compare G2G with the official upgrade flow, consider only a clearly described subscription or top-up delivered to an account you own. A shared or transferred login is not an equivalent plan purchase: SpaceXAI’s consumer terms prohibit sharing credentials or making an account available to another person.3

Where the free plan stops

Free already lists the main entry-level benefits: real-time web and X search, voice mode, and connectors.1 Stay on it when those features cover your normal use and limits only appear occasionally. The absence of a paid model or creation tool matters only when you actually need that entitlement for repeatable work.

What SuperGrok adds

SuperGrok is the middle choice. Its public plan card lists Grok 4.6, Expert, Grok Bot, image and video generation, connectors, and higher rate limits across features.1 That makes it the relevant upgrade when Free is missing one of those named benefits or regularly stops work because of its lower allowance.

SuperGrok does not include a separate xAI API allowance. The pricing page treats Individual and API plans as different categories, so do not use a consumer subscription price to estimate developer API costs.1

When SuperGrok Plus is the better comparison

SuperGrok Plus includes everything in SuperGrok and currently adds 1080p video creation, significantly higher usage across Chat, Imagine, Voice, and Build, faster replies, priority access at peak times, and early access to new features.1 It is a capacity-focused upgrade, so compare it only after confirming that ordinary SuperGrok—not Free—is the plan that falls short.

If you are deciding whether any paid entitlement will earn its place in your routine, use the workload comparison rather than treating the longer feature list as the answer.

Check the plan shown to your account

  1. Open the signed-in pricing or upgrade screen and confirm that it says Free, SuperGrok, or SuperGrok Plus.
  2. Read the displayed amount, currency, billing period, tax, and renewal terms before confirming payment. SpaceXAI’s public page currently shows $0, $30, and $100 monthly prices respectively.1
  3. Confirm that the model, creation mode, or other entitlement you need appears in the offer shown to you.
  4. Open Settings > Usage. Paid accounts can see the percentage used, product breakdown, weekly reset time, and any Extra Usage Credits.2
  5. Keep Grok consumer plans separate from X Premium subscriptions and xAI API billing; they use different purchase and support routes.12

If the weekly allowance is the only reason you are comparing tiers, check the current Usage screen before upgrading.

Reasons not to upgrade yet

  • Free already completes the work you normally do.
  • The paid model or creation tool you want does not appear in your signed-in offer.
  • You need a fixed number of messages, images, videos, or Build tasks, but the public plan pages do not publish fixed counts.12
  • Your use is too occasional to justify a recurring subscription.
  • You expect higher limits to remove every interruption, although paid activity still draws from a shared weekly usage pool.2
  • You have not checked who will bill the subscription or the renewal terms. Paid subscriptions renew periodically until cancelled, and SpaceXAI may change prices with notice.3

Choose Free when you have no repeatable need for a paid entitlement. Choose SuperGrok when a listed model, creation tool, or higher allowance resolves a recurring restriction. Choose SuperGrok Plus only when SuperGrok is already the right entitlement set and its capacity or 1080p video limits are the remaining issue.1

Before using a third-party offer

The delivery description should apply access to your own account without asking you to use someone else’s password or accept an account transfer. If the ownership or delivery method is unclear, keep using Free or subscribe through the signed-in Grok upgrade screen.
